[Ralithix]
A putrid film of red gel covers the sky, the air is heavy and smells of iron and and flesh, and the ground is a jumble of a tacky flesh-like substance, veins, and bone. All around you are organic pillar like structures topped with what looks like a cancerous mass. It is as if a huge carcass was split open and draped over the land. Yet, it is not dead- but alive.
More knowledgeable explorers and people interested in space's weirder creatures know this is a Ralithix. Ralithixi are organisms that covers an entire planet's surface, slowly devouring the nutrients and elements in the planet. The process takes millions of years, which makes the Ralithixi one of the galaxy's longest living life forms. Typically, they thrive on moons and planets with out life- as the young tend be eaten by predators quickly.
The environment is not only hostile to look at, but potentially hostile to your life. Ralithixi view all foreign life forms as potential threats and have a wide range of counter measures to stop them before any harm is done. (Much like our bodies have against viruses/bacteria.) This may range from releasing toxic gas to spawning simple organisms to deal with the intruders. Tread with caution.
=Scenarios=
[The Digestible Gate]
You find the gate, but it encased in a film of rancid red ichor that covers the planet. The gate must have been huge- as the Ralithix has a hide nearly a half-mile thick. You must find a way to free the gate and evade an angry response from the Ralithix. (it doesn't take ripping up its outer layer lightly)
[Swamp of Pus]
You are teleported to the most rancid, acrid, and vile area on the Ralithix's surface. It is swamp several acres across filled with knee deep frothy brown-green sludge with white gelatinous chunks floating around. It smells as bad as it looks. I wouldn't advise tasting it either. However, more agile members may use the many vein-covered tree-like structures to find higher ground and to traverse the vile landscape. Be aware- your opponent is in the area and the slimy environment gives several advantages and disadvantages.
[The Horror]
The Ralithix senses it has powerful beings on its surface and wants to do all it can in the name of self preservation. It musters much of it's energy in creating a huge and viscous behemoth to dispatch the intruders. Naturally, it finds you are your opponent. It's up to you how to use it to your advantage, get away, or team up and kill it.
[Wisdom of the Ancient]
Those who know of the Ralithix believe it simply a colossal animal with smarts to match. However Ralithixi have great intellect and collect information about the universe around them. Perhaps they are psychic. Perhaps they can interpret signals from long range communication. Or they perhaps they get information from other Ralithixi via smells, spores, vibrations, sounds, or even visual pattens. No one knows for sure. This creature knows about the tower, but it's not the easiest to open up. It is up to you to tease the information out.
[Keyblades]
bowen13For this round, the keys have been turned into your weapon of choice. Defeat or disarm your opponent to take their key. Simple, straight forward, and a huge hit with the audience. The catch, however, is the portal. The only way to open it it to wound your opponent with both key/weapons simultaneously. It need not be a killing blow, but the keys must puncture the opponents flesh (in the case of blunt weapons, a hardy strike will do).
[Journey to the Center of the Ralithix]
bowen13An unfortunately timed sunspot/cosmic radiation burst has shifted the next gate! Instead of the planet's surface, the gate was warped below the planet's surface, namely, inside the Ralithix. As it is common knowledge that a Ralithix can digest even the largest of animals within an hour, you and your opponent must race as far into the creatures interior as possible within that time. Within 15 minutes, your senses will be effected. At 30, your bodies will begin to decay. 45 minutes in, it will be a struggle to move. As an added treat, the keys this time around are your very bodies. If both of you don't make it to the gate (either alive or dead), neither will be able to leave. The winner will be whoever physically touches the gate first, with the option of bringing or leaving the loser.
